Summary of 8.5" deep Zees, t=0.073in. (nominal)

Testing on 3 pairs of 8.5" deep Zees with nominal thickness of 0.073 in. has been completed.

Tensile testing (3 coupons) of one of the specimens has also been completed.

 

Tensile coupon results (3 coupons)

specimen 8.5Z073-6, t = 0.0721 in.  (base metal), fy = 54.0 ksi, fu = 72. 6 ksi

Changes in the panel to purlin screw pattern changed strength from 0.74My to 0.89My; this is  ~20% increase in capacity.
