This conference will include papers that highlight the state-of-the-art in the field and papers that indicate the future that lies ahead.  Papers on wave theory, nearshore circulation, shoreline evolution, case studies are welcome.

The conference will honor Professor Robert G. Dean, who will retire from the University of Florida in June, 2003.  His distinguished career in academia and consulting has made a profound impact on the field of coastal engineering.  His  scholarly publications, his students, and his service to the profession are the impetus for this conference.

The meeting will also be the Association of Coastal Engineers annual meeting.
