Generating a Statistical Description of Data
Now that the material property fields have been generated, this data can be used to perform Monte Carlo Simulations that will provide new fields with the same statistics as the original field. In order to perform such simulations, two important pieces of information must be estimated:
- The Probability Density Function defining the distribution of values at any given point
- The correlation function defining the correlation between two points at various distances apart
Such simulations will be used as input to finite element analyses, providing statistics on the maximum stress for a number of samples of the same material.
