Welcome to the SSHT Laboratory!
Our research interest is in the areas of structural dynamics and earthquake engineering. Recent focus of our research is particularly directed towards development of experimental methods including effective force tests, real-time hybrid tests, shake table tests, and substructure techniques. We have successfully developed dynamic force feedback controllers for hydraulic actuators using robust loop-shaping techniques. With the promising dynamic force feedback controllers, we have been exploring new force-based experimental methods that have a lot of advantages over the conventional displacement-based experimental methods for the performance assessment of structures.
The work on the experimental methods at the SSHT lab is supported by the National Science Foundation under an award entitled CAREER: Advanced Acceleration Control Methods and Substructure Techniques fof Shake Table Tests (grant number CMMI- 0954958).
