Julia Carroll

About Julia

I have wanted to be an engineer since I was 12. After earning my Bachelors in Civil Engineering and my Masters in Structural Engineering, I spent several years working as a bridge engineer before returning to academia to pursue my PhD. I love engineering and I love teaching it. I am especially passionate about increasing the participation of women and minorities in STEM.

I am also a trained jazz singer, a musical theater buff, and a wife and mother. I do silly voices, ridiculous dances and anything else I can think of to make my kids giggle.

Research Interests
